Joelle wrote me an inspiring email from Boston today ; She said that she found a Latin quote that perfectly reflects and summarizes her US experience:

O curas hominum! O quantum est in rebus inane! -(Lucilius) Ah, human cares! Ah, how much futility in the world!

It seems also that there are more and more American students (higher studies—PhD level) working on “the social and the intellectual history of Lebanon” in American Universities (imagine!).
The disillusioned Lebanese university students however are “investing their efforts” in engineering, medicine and law: they think that these are the best majors/ways for them to earn a good living (thus a decent job) in the future.
Bilan: most of these poor Lebanese students (around 70 per cent in a very recent survey published in AL Nahar) end up un-or under employed in the happy land of the cedars.

Pity this Nation……
